I grew up in Virginia and attended Wake Forest University where I found my first paid writing job in the Sports Information Department. (Go Deacs!) After graduation, I worked for Raycom Sports, the County's Recycling Program and the City of Charlotte as a writer, photographer and graphic artist.
After my daughter was born, I joined the Society of Children's Book Writers & Illustrators (SCBWI) and began writing, attending conferences and joining critique groups. In 2016, I was accepted to the Rutgers One-On-One Plus Mentorship program and am currently serving as an intern for a literary agency in New York. My personal essays and commentaries have aired on the local NPR affiliate in Charlotte and in The Charlotte Observer.
Last, but not least: My obsession with walking 10,000 steps each day gives me lots of time to plot picture books and novels.
